1. What is WebSafe Shield?

WebSafe Shield is a service that helps you establish trust with your site’s visitors, thereby increasing your sales.  Today's shoppers are concerned about the safety of their personal information, including credit card information.  You can demonstrate your commitment to your website’s security and protection of information by displaying our WebSafe Shield seal.

2. How does your service work?

We conduct daily security vulnerability assessments of your site, and as long as it passes this assessment, you can display the WebSafe Shield seal. If any security holes are found during our daily security vulnerability assessments, you will be notified. You will have 72 – 96 hours, depending on the severity of the risk, to address the vulnerability, before we remove the WebSafe Shield seal from your site. 3. How do I prove I'm authorized for the domain ?

WebSafe Shield requires you to prove you are authorized for a given domain. We receive lots of requests to conduct security vulnerability assessments, and we help speed up the process through an automated authorization process.

You may choose any of the 3 following ways to prove you are authorized for the domain:

1. Click on a link that is emailed to "admin@" your domain (e.g. admin@mysite.com )

2. Click on a link that is emailed to "webmaster@" your domain (e.g. webmaster@mysite.com)

3. Put a file with a name that we specify on your site, and we will verify the file exists on your site
        (e.g. http://www.mysite.com/wss-confirm3838483499.html )

WebSafe Shield has taken great care to identify the best methods and tests in order to provide a safe and non-disruptive security scan.  

8. Can you help me fix my security vulnerabilities?

We will provide you information on each vulnerability as well as potential ways of addressing each one. The choices can vary, but they can involve upgrading a system, disabling an unused service, or further strengthening the access controls to a system. You have the choice on how to resolve the vulnerability. We will continue our daily security vulnerability assessments and notify you when you have passed the assessment.
